Fifteen years ago, K9s For Warriors set out with a simple but urgent belief: that Veterans deserve support that lasts—unwavering support that can be found in a life-changing Service Dog. That belief has grown into the nation’s leading nonprofit providing Service Dogs to Veterans living with the invisible wounds of war, including PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and military sexual trauma.

Restoring Families., K9s For Warriors marks this milestone through the voices of Veterans whose lives transformed when they were paired with a Service Dog. With more than 1,200 Veteran lives saved and over 2,500 dogs rescued, the work goes beyond companionship—it’s restoring independence, strengthening families, and creating a sense of stability where it was once missing.

Determined to end Veteran suicide, K9s For Warriors is the nation’s largest provider of trained Service Dogs to military Veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma. With most dogs being rescues, this innovative program allows the Warrior and Service Dog team to build an unwavering bond that facilitates their collective healing and recovery. This treatment method is backed by scientific research (from University of Arizona’s OHAIRE Lab) demonstrating Service Dogs’ ability to help mitigate their Veteran’s symptoms of PTSD while simultaneously restoring their confidence and independence. Founded in 2011, K9s For Warriors remains committed to bringing widespread awareness to Veterans’ mental health and contributing to policy-level reform. To date, the organization has paired more than 1,000 Veterans have been paired with life-changing Service Dogs and rescued more than 2,000 dogs.
