For nearly 100 years, St. Joseph’s Indian School has been a leader in the Lakota community, helping children who live in poverty overcome the struggles, obstacles, and hardships in their way.
In this new PSA, Path Out of Poverty, viewers learn how St. Joseph’s Indian School provides a strong education, access to healthcare, and the love and support needed to help students down the path to a brighter future and their dreams. In fact, 96% of students enrolled in St. Joseph’s graduate — that’s 10% higher than the national average!

Native American children get their best chance to succeed in life at St. Joseph’s Indian School. St. Joseph’s provides a safe place to learn, grow and thrive. Not only does the school provide an exceptional education, but they also provide a holistic approach to their students’ care, including programs focusing on safety, wellbeing and mental and physical health – all at no cost to families.
Within South Dakota, Native American students are graduating at a rate of only 53%. However, at St. Joseph’s, students are beating the odds. For Native American children living in poverty, opportunities are few and far between.
Native American students in South Dakota graduate high school in four years at a rate of 45%. Yet, students at St. Joseph’s Indian School are pursuing their dreams and beating those odds. Students enrolled at St. Joseph’s graduate at a rate of 96%.
St. Joseph’s provides Native American children with the best chance to dream and succeed at becoming a nurse, honoring their culture, learning to play music, and so much more.
